Work Samples from Coastal Fog: A Dance Sonata in Four Movements
devised with Geophysical Fluid Dynamics and Diego Martinez-Campos, Verónica Diaz-Muñíz, Maria Ceja
Dr. Ian Faloona & Isa Leal
Excerpts from Movement 2: Air and Movement 3: Water
Movement 3: Coastal Drag/Spin (Water) – Marine air mass collides with coastal mountains deflecting south and driving the California ocean current and forcing the upwelling of cold, nutrient rich deep water along the coast.
Movement 2: Sinking/Drying (Air) – Descending, warm/dry air over the Pacific Ocean presses down on westerly winds, speeding them up and trapping moisture on their way to N. American west coast.
